Rest If You Must, But Don’t Quit

There are times in life when day-after-day looks like a battle. The road is hard, the climb is steep, and the burden is heavy. And there are occasions after we are tempted to throw within the towel.

Maybe you’re feeling that today.

It is in those moments we search in all places and anywhere for encouragement.

I used to be recently touched by an easy line from an easy poem. The verse, written by Edgar A Guest is solely this:

You can read your entire poem here.

But that one easy phrase leaps off the page. It is required since it is a strong, but gentle nudge to never hand over, to never quit. To keep going, even when the going gets tough.

And all of us should be reminded of it from time-to-time.

If these are words that it is advisable to hear today, I would like to supply them to you.

Our most meaningful work in life will at all times be difficult. No matter what the quick-fix industry and self-proclaimed experts need to inform you, there isn’t any easy method to achieve essentially the most fulfilling pursuits that really matter in life.

The most important matters in ours lives will at all times require our fullest attention and resolve. There is not any coasting towards the things in life that matter. All necessary goals require work.

Because of this, this journey of life requires not only the courage to begin however the perseverance to maintain going, day-after-day, especially through the hardest trials we face.

Sometimes we’d like to rest, to catch our breath, to regroup, and that’s okay. Sometimes that’s an important thing we are able to do. What’s necessary is that we get back up, we keep moving, and we never hand over.

If you wish encouragement today to maintain working and striving, rest if you should, but don’t hand over.

To the parents watching as their child takes a path they hadn’t hoped for… rest if you should, but keep fighting for what’s best for them—and at all times proceed together with your love and your prayers.

To those wrestling with health challenges… rest if you should, but never hand over on yourself and the chance for health or impact still in front of you.

To those caring for a loved one as they near the tip of their life… rest if you should, but keep serving faithfully and finding joy in every moment you possibly can while together.

To those working to alter your lives for the higher…. rest if you should, but know that breaking old habits and behaviors takes time, attention, and renewed discipline every morning.

To anyone who’s trying to choose up the pieces of their life shattered by another person… rest if you should, but find hope in knowing there continues to be a latest and brighter future ahead of you.

To anyone who’s fighting for a greater world, for justice, kindness, and alter, your path is crucial. Rest if you should… but know that your efforts create ripples of change that stretch far beyond what you possibly can see. So keep believing, keep advocating, keep fighting.

To those of you working to create a latest culture for your own home and family… rest if you should, but don’t quit. Set the instance, have fun little wins, and know the change is well worth the effort.

Simplifying our lives by removing distractions—whether it’s excess stuff, unnecessary commitments, or negative influences—could make our journey a bit easier. But it might probably never remove all burdens and obstacles.

We all face hard times, all of us feel weighed down at moments. But we also all have the chance to persevere. Your efforts, your struggles, and your resilience encourage more people than you understand.

You usually are not alone.

If it is advisable to find encouragement in your life today, I hope you discover it here. Because we’re all cheering for you.

Rest if you should, but don’t quit.
