Jose Ortega y Gasset

“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, will not be an act, but a habit.”
Aristotle

It is early morning. You’ve had your breakfast and done your morning routine.

So you head out into your day. And in a brief whilst you’ll sit down at school or at your job and start along with your each day work.

But how are you going to get that work done in a way that’s less stressful, less energy consuming and easily a bit smarter?

Today I’d wish to share 10 suggestions which have helped me with that.

I hope you’ll find something here that can assist you too to simplify and relaxify your personal each day work.

1. Do only one thing at a time.

It will assist you to get your task all of the option to done, to feel less stressed and confused and also you’ll do a greater job in comparison with if you happen to multi-task things.

And if you happen to feel stressed and overwhelmed during your day then you definately can tell yourself this easy thing to regain focus and inner clarity again.

2. Keep a minimalistic workspace.

It makes it easier to maintain your focus and a focus in the correct place and to maintain your considering clear.

I keep a workspace with only a picket desk, a chair, my computer, a bigger screen and a glass of water or mug of tea on that desk.

3. Go slow.

One good option to do more focused work is to go a bit slower than you might normally do.

I actually have also found that by just doing something at a slower pace it feels less like a mental burden and so I’m less prone to procrastinate.

4. Eliminate.

From time to time ask yourself:

What one task during my day or week can I simply eliminate and never do with few or no consequences?

It’s easy to simply keep doing every little thing just because “it’s best to” or since you’ve at all times done so.

So query the way you go about things to unlock energy and time. There is usually room to at the very least simplify a bit through elimination.

5. Cycle 100% focused work with 100% full rest.

This is an enormous one for me.

By doing things this manner you may help yourself to maintain your mental sharpness and energy up for the entire day and workweek.

I do that by setting the timer-app on my phone for 40 minutes (or sometimes just 5-10 minutes if it is a task that I’ve procrastinated on).

During those minutes I only deal with the one task at hand and it becomes easier to accomplish that because I do know that I only should do it for this limited time period.

When the timer beeps I leave my work for 5-Quarter-hour. During those minutes I focus only on resting by having a snack, taking a brief walk or by relaxing with my eyes closed on the couch.

6. Don’t beat yourself up when things don’t go as planned.

Instead, be kind to yourself and smart along with your energy and ask yourself:

What is one thing I can learn from this?

Use what you’ll be able to learn to do things higher and to avoid making the identical mistake in the longer term. It’s a greater use of your time than spending it on regretting a past that you just cannot change anyway.

7. Let emails and other online checking wait until the top of the workday.

Or at the very least for a couple of hours.

Don’t start your day with going through your email – if possible – because it may possibly add numerous stress and suck away your limited energy and a focus early within the day.

It may make it hard to even find enough time to your most vital tasks if you happen to get too distracted by your inbox.

8. Limit your each day information input.

Regularly unsubscribe to blogs, podcasts, social media channels and email newsletters that does not add much value to your life anyway.

Keep only probably the most helpful, funny, inspiring and best ones.

This quite simple thing can unlock quite a little bit of each time and a focus in the course of the course of a month.

9. Ask yourself questions daily that assist you to seek out your focus.

It’s really easy to get off target during a day.

To stay on it or to get back there if you happen to wander away use one – or each – of my very own favorite questions:

  • What is crucial thing I can do immediately?
  • What would I work on if I only had 2 hours for work today?

If you want, write these questions down on a note and put that note where you can not avoid seeing it during your day.

10. Focus totally on the learn how to and never a lot on the what-ifs.

Don’t get stuck in evaluation paralysis, overthinking and in the fear and lack of self-esteem that typically comes from those destructive thoughts.

Instead, deal with what you really can do, on what motion you’ll be able to take to maneuver forward.

Empower yourself by asking yourself:

What is one small step I can take immediately to maneuver forward towards my goal or out of this case?
