A worldwide fashion legend and longtime Vogue creative director, the Westchester retreat hit the marketplace for $1.25 million.
André Leon Talley, a media titan with a famous penchant for capes and caftans, for the last 18 years of his life called this White Plains, NY mansion, The New York Times was the primary to report it.
The North Carolina-born stylist, who wasn’t a giant fan of city life, considered the colonial-style mansion his “sanctuary,” he told a 2018 publication.
He He died last 12 months, on the age of 73, after complications from COVID-19.

“The house was ideal for André since it was on a personal road,” Alexis E. Thomas, an old friend and trustee of Talley’s estate, told the Times. “His porch became a spot where he spent lots of time, especially on warmer days. He interviewed from there and did Zoom from there. I can not count what number of hours I spent with him on that porch.
In nearly twenty years, Talley was rarely within the expansive kitchen (he didn’t cook, Thomas explained), stayed within the study rather a lot, used certainly one of the 4 bedrooms as a linen closet, and never had anyone but Thomas in one other bedroom.
