United Airlines plans to upgrade its schedule and add latest lounges at Denver International Airport, the carrier expects demand for flights at its fastest-growing hub will proceed to grow.
United said on Tuesday it will add 35 flights to Colorado’s airport this 12 months. The latest non-stop routes include services to Greensboro, North Carolina; Dayton, Ohio; Lexington, Kentucky; and San Juan, Puerto Rico. A spokeswoman said Denver Airlines may have a mean of 450 departures a day this summer.
United belonged to the airport the biggest carrier last 12 months with a 46% market share vs Southwest Airlines31% share, Frontier Airlines with 10%, Delta Airlines with 5% and american airlines from 4%, in accordance with airport data.
But its latest service comes as changing travel patterns through the pandemic are forcing airlines to rethink their networks and where best to deploy planes which can be in brief supply.
Passenger traffic at airports has skyrocketed through the pandemic as town has grown and travelers have sought outdoor seating amid restrictions to stop the spread of Covid-19. Last 12 months, Denver Airport handled a record variety of over 69 million passengers, making it the third busiest airport on the earth, up from sixteenth in 2019. Airports Council International.
By comparison, San Francisco, one other United hub that enjoyed business travel before the pandemic, handled 57.5 million passengers in 2019 and only 42.3 million last 12 months.
United can also be set to open a latest lounge and reopen considered one of two large remodeled clubs, the newest sign that the airline is scrambling to make room for dozens of high-spend travelers.
Last 12 months, United opened a mini lounge in Denver for connecting passengers.
