Apple on Tuesday announced latest multi-billion dollar contract with broadcom develop US 5G radio frequency components

“We’re excited to make commitments that leverage the ingenuity, creativity and revolutionary spirit of American manufacturing,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.

Broadcom shares rose nearly 2% Tuesday morning. Apple shares fell lower than 1%.

5G radio components developed by Broadcom, a technology and advanced manufacturing company, will include FBAR filters and other wireless connectivity components. These components are different from 5G modems manufactured by Qualcomm.

Apple said the cope with Broadcom is an element of a commitment to take a position $430 billion within the US economy in 2021. The move marks the ultimate phase of the partnership between the 2 firms as Broadcom announced it’s going to sell $15 billion price of wireless components to Apple in 2020.

The company said the cope with Broadcom would also allow it to take a position in “critical automation projects and upskilling” with engineers and other technicians. Apple already supports greater than 1,100 jobs at Broadcom’s FBAR filter manufacturing facility in Fort Collins, Colorado.
