Growing up, I remember watching romantic movies and wondering why do they make love so difficult? Just go to that person, apologize and do your makeup. Live happily ever after, apparently you are meant to live. Boy, I used to be naive. I’ve been married for nearly five years, and let’s be honest, marriage is absolutely the hardest thing on the planet. What starts off as fun and romantic can turn into arguments and blocking.
No one can escape the difficulties of marriage; everyone has ups and downs. Even the seasons whenever you’re not entirely sure you may handle it. For many, although divorce is the fallacious word, the thought involves mind in our darkest moments.
I used to assume that I could be a patient, kind, and loving wife. That I’ll be the sort of spouse who makes marriage easier. I used to be so naive once more. Because what I didn’t see in those movies was real life and my sinful nature. If I’m being really honest, I wasn’t the wife I imagined. I’ve been selfish, proud, and reacted badly more often than I’d wish to admit. I’d put up a wall and back off, I’d explode with anger and be unkind.
If we usually are not diligent, these mistakes can turn right into a sterile marriage. Two people living in a house, like ships passing by at night – close but invisible.
8 Bible Truths for an Unhappy Marriage
If you are reading this, you’ve got probably been there, are there, or are preparing for the times ahead. Days whenever you do not like your spouse. Days whenever you do not feel like talking, let alone forgiving. Times whenever you’re so hurt or offended that trying out looks as if an option. Days whenever you’re undecided your marriage will last.
For nowadays, I even have eight thoughts that I would like you to recollect. Eight truths I would like you to take with you in these dark days.
1. God can heal, irrespective of how unimaginable reconciliation seems
It could seem that hurt and distance are too far-off to return back from, but God cannot bring them back. In fact, what He does best: redeem. When you give up to Him and pray for His healing, God can come to work even within the worst of situations. If He can defeat death, which He did, He can bring the identical victory to your marriage.
Come to Him day by day in prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, and invite Him right into a relationship. Even when all seems lost, there continues to be hope in His hands.
1 Peter 3:7 ESV – Likewise, husbands, live leniently together with your wives, honoring the girl because the weaker vessel, for they’re heirs with you of the grace of life, that your prayers is probably not hindered.
Proverbs 18:22 ESV – Whoever finds a wife finds something good and gains the grace of the Lord.
Genesis 2:24 ESV – Therefore a person shall leave his father and his mother and shall cleave to his wife, and so they shall change into one flesh.
Ephesians 5:22-33 ESV – Wives, be submissive to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the pinnacle of the wife, just as Christ is the pinnacle of the Church, her Body, and he’s her Savior. Now because the church submits to Christ, so should wives be subject to their husbands in all things. Husbands, love your wives as Christ loved the Church and gave himself up for her to sanctify her, having cleansed her with the washing of water with the word…
1 Peter 4:8 ESV – Above all, love one another sincerely, because love covers a large number of sins.
Proverbs 31:10 ESV – The perfect wife, who can find? It is way more beneficial than gems.
Psalm 85:10 ESV – unbreakable love and fidelity meet; justice and peace kiss.
