Meta-owned Instagram is planning to release a text-based app that can compete with Twitter and will debut as soon as next month, reported Bloomberg News on Friday, citing people conversant in the matter.
The Facebook parent is testing the product with influencers and a few creators, in accordance with the report.
The company didn’t immediately reply to a Reuters request for comment.
Mark Zuckerberg’s meta is contacting talent agencies and celebrities to gauge their interest in trying out an early version of the app that will probably be integrated with Instagram, Alex Heath, a reporter for The Verge, told the newsletter.
