An open-source artificial intelligence (AI) model is reportedly being prepared for public release by OpenAI, the corporate behind ChatGPT’s AI chatbot.
On May 16 report in The Information, citing an individual acquainted with the plan, OpenAI is making the move as pressure mounts from competing open-source AI models, akin to those from Meta released in February.

It was said that OpenAI’s OpenAI model would likely not be competitive with its flagship ChatGPT product, as the corporate’s value comes from having the ability to sell access to its more sophisticated models.
Earlier in May, a leaked document from Google’s senior software engineer Luke Sernau pointed to open-source AI models as a big threat to the corporate’s own AI efforts.
