Red Dead Redemption 2 leaps up Steam charts, but Rockstar seems done

Red Dead Redemption 2 could be my favorite game of all time – at the least my favorite big-budget mainstream game. Much to the occasional disappointment of my PCGamesN colleagues, I’m a little bit hard (perhaps too hard) to please, but Rockstar’s western sandbox still impresses me some five years after its release. And apparently I’m not alone, as latest numbers show Red Dead Redemption 2 is jumping up in Steam sales and player charts, even beating Grand Theft Auto 5. But with GTA 6 on the best way, despite its popularity, RDR2 updates from Rockstar are likely the thing from the past.

At the time of writing, Red Dead Redemption 2 ranks eighth on the list of best-selling games based on SteamDB data, above close cousin GTA 5 at tenth, and Bungie’s Destiny 2 multiplayer at eleventh. 5 and Destiny 2 proceed to receive regular updates, and the ultimate substantive DLC for Red Dead Redemption 2 will arrive courtesy of Blood Money in 2021.

Excluding free-to-play games like Apex Legends and Warzone 2, Red Dead Redemption 2 is much more successful on Steam. Between April 17 and April 25, Rockstar’s western was the fourth best-selling game behind the upcoming Star Wars Jedi Survivor, followed by Resident Evil 4, FIFA 23 and Cyberpunk 2077.

Aided by a recent sale on Steam, Red Dead Redemption 2 has also climbed the players list, taking twenty eighth place above other more moderen single-player games, including Elden Ring. The last 24 hours (on the time of writing) also saw a peak player base of 35,271, higher than the horror game Dead by Daylight, which also receives regular updates.

While every day challenges are still available in Red Dead Redemption 2, in addition to occasional seasonal rewards and events, Rockstar has apparently moved away from the sport to concentrate on each GTA 5 and the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6, with no major updates in nearly two years, and no update announcements. Regardless, we’re still looking forward to GTA 6’s release date.

If you miss RDR2, try other best offline games. You may hop on and head over to the most effective Western PC games, and perhaps watch the most effective upcoming games of 2023.
