WHAT IS THIS?
This is a G10 knife with a non-metal sheath designed for discreet self-defense.
WHAT CAPTURED OUR ATTENTION?
Each Black Triangle knife is available in a vintage-style VHS tape box, complete with a custom-printed faux-antique insert that appears prefer it belonged on a late 80s Blockbuster shelf alongside Predator and They Live. Packaging is normally a disposable item, so we desired to see if that spotlight to detail carried over to the contents of the box.

HOW IT’S WORKING?
For those unfamiliar, G10 is a tricky fiberglass composite material that is often used for the handle scales of metal knives. The Creeper MK1 mod 2 it’s constructed from a solid piece of ¼ inch thick G10 ground to a pointy point. Its hilt is tightly wrapped in gutted black paracord and includes an identical Kydex sheath. The polymer belt clip is tightly attached to the sheath with an elastic cord, eliminating the necessity for any metal hardware. The final result is a G10 knife that is totally invisible to a metal detector, allowing it for use as a self-defense tool in environments where a conventional knife or firearm might not be allowed.
We also received a sample of Black Triangle’s matching MK1 trainer ($42), which is fabricated from an easily recognizable blue G10 with a blunt tip. An identical sheath is included with each trainer.
HOW WELL DOES IT WORK?
Many non-metallic tools proceed to be detected by a metal detector resulting from carbon fiber construction, metal sheathing or other missed items. Thankfully, that is not the case here – we have passed the wand above the Creeper persistently with no single beep. Note that non-metallic tools can still be found with density scanners or a straightforward search, so there is no guarantee they will not be spotted, however it’s much easier to cover than a metal blade.
WHAT WE LIKE:
The Creeper’s handle is sufficiently big to grip with a full fist, and the twisted cord provides loads of non-slip texture. The fit of the quilt is good; the knife snaps securely into place but may be removed quickly. The belt clip accommodates a normal 1.5-inch belt, and the attached elastic cord loop provides another attachment method. It may be tied to a belt loop, inside pocket or other fixed point to make sure the sheath stays in place when the knife is drawn. This versatility is useful.
Black Triangle has a lifetime warranty on every G10 knife, so in case your tool or sheath is broken or damaged, they may repair or replace it.
We appreciate that the Black Triangle offers a trainer that completely replicates the dimensions, shape and weight of a “live” blade. Too many sports shoes we have used previously feel like featherweight toys in comparison with their real-life counterparts. We’re also glad that it includes an identical sheath that lets you realistically practice your drawing style. The Inertial Trainer is a crucial addition for anyone seeking to practice melee techniques safely against a human partner.
WHAT WE DID NOT LIKE:
The edge geometry of every knife is a compromise between sharpness and sturdiness. The thin edge cuts effortlessly but dulls or chips quickly. This is very necessary for G10, a fabric that’s less durable than steel. Black Triangle grinds each G10 knife to be strong enough to pierce multiple times, admitting that they’re “point-driven, which suggests they are not meant to chop.” The Creeper won’t be effective at slashing, but that is not an issue so long as your fighting technique suits the design.
