Inside friend’s home where Louisville shooter Connor Sturgeon plotted tragedy

The lone gunman who shelled a bank in downtown Louisville, Kentucky, on Monday morning has just moved right into a two-bedroom, two-bathroom home along with his friend, The Post reports.

Connor Sturgeon was identified by police as a 25-year-old gunman who went on a rampage on the bank where he was employed, the Old National Bank, which left five people dead and eight others injured.

Sturgeon was living on the time in a 1,000-square-foot home that his 24-year-old friend Dallas Whelan bought for $203,000 last April.

Sturgeon and Whelan met on the University of Alabama, where they’d accomplished their undergraduate studies.

Whelan currently works as an HR sales consultant in Louisville, in accordance with his LinkedIn page.

A modest house on Taylor Avenue might be considered ideal for 2 young guys starting their careers.

But inside, nobody knew Sturgeon was planning a mass shooting.

Their neighbor, 45-year-old Michael McCoy, told The Post that Whelan called the police to report finding a letter from him.

“[The roommate] he looked as if it would stumble, like he couldn’t imagine it,” McCoy said. “They found a letter and a note he wrote and reported it to the police.”

“I spoke to him last night. He said, “Hey Mike.” And I said ‘hey’,” McCoy explained, adding that he witnessed police removing computers and other items from Sturgeon’s home.

“This charming 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom home in well established neighborhood is prepared for brand new owners! Close to parks, quick access to highway and shops, restaurants and more!” said previous home entry.

The property was initially valued at $190,000 in March 2022, but Whelan got right into a bidding war for the home and eventually won it for around $13,000 more.

Built in 1920, the yard they shared is larger than the actual living space at over 7,000 square feet.

Prior to the massacre, Sturgeon had contemplated suicide and was on the verge of being fired from his job.

The shooter’s former highschool classmate revealed that he wore a helmet strangely while playing basketball as a result of the multiple concussions he suffered while playing soccer.

Sturgeon attended Floyd Central High School in Floyds Knobs, Indiana, where his father was a basketball coach.

Officials identified the five victims killed within the rampage as Tommy Elliott, 63, Jim Tutt, 64, Joshua Barrick, 40, Juliana Farmer, 45, and Deanna Eckert, 57.

Two of the injured are cops, considered one of whom – a 26-year-old rookie who joined the police force just 10 days ago – was shot in the pinnacle and hospitalized in critical condition.
