Substack CEO pushes back at Elon, says Twitter situation is “very frustrating”

Musk sort of explained his decision in a response this week claiming that Substack “tried to download an enormous chunk of Twitter’s database to run their Twitter clone,” which may be very funny – imagine starting any competitor on Twitter and pre-filling it with Twitter garbage – and in addition a reasonably large theorem with none evidence.

Anyway, Substack CEO Chris Best responded to Elon, in fact, with a post on Substack Notes. The feature is in beta so there isn’t a direct link yet, but he gave it to us and we’re posting a screenshot for people to relate to.

Best says Substack has been using Twitter’s API for years and believes it complies with its terms of service; which means that Twitter never told the corporate about any alleged violation. And in fact, Best says the entire situation is “very frustrating”, with a nod to the proven fact that the authors of Substack actually customers its enterprise software; tinkering with Substack links has more of an impact on individual small business owners than on a platform company.

It’s value noting here that Andreesen Horowitz is an investor in each Substack and neo-Twitter, so it’s going great. And in the event you’re reading this, you possibly can probably just reply to the phrases “free speech,” “Twitter,” and “Elon Musk” in whatever approach to get your Saturday night off to a great start. I trust you. Strong party.
