Here’s a 15 minute take a look at Cyberpunk 2077’s “film-like rendering” mode

Cyberpunk 2077’s track-tracking update is just across the corner, and CD Projekt Red’s global art director and art vp Jakub “Kuba” Knapik told PCGamesN that the RPG’s “cinematic rendering” should completely transform Night City. To have a good time, CDPR has now released a 15-minute video that showcases how path tracing works and shows how the visuals will change as well.

PCGamesN already spoke to Jakub “Kuba” Knapik, who’s within the video, at GDC 2023 about path tracking in Cyberpunk 2077, so if you should know much more in regards to the feature, you’ll find it there.

You can see Path Tracing in motion together with some detailed descriptions from most of the CD Projekt Red staff within the video below. According to Senior Technical Lighting Artist Giovanni De Francesco, path-tracking differences must be seen “in all places” in Cyberpunk 2077.

To break it right down to absolutely the basics, path tracing is a greater version of ray tracing. Of course, you may still need among the best graphics cards available on the market, but it’s best to get a “cinematic render” as claimed by Knapik in his chat with PCGamesN. Using a mix of ray tracing and DLSS 3 (and other similar AI technologies), path tracing is in a position to achieve high frame rates while improving lighting and visual effects.

Cyberpunk 2077 is already well built on CDPR’s RED engine, although the developer is moving to Unreal Engine 5 in future releases, so the lighting changes could suit Night City’s visuals. Reflections, Shadows, Global Illumination, and Ambient Occlusion will likely be greatly improved with AI Hybrid Path Tracking.

You can expect Cyberpunk 2077’s path-tracking to debut on April 11 with patch 1.62which is incredibly fast.

If you are seeking to further enhance your experience while waiting for Phantom Liberty, these Cyberpunk 2077 mods are sure to do the trick. We even have a breakdown of all of the Cyberpunk 2077 endings and one of the best cyberpunk games should you’re diving back into 2077 and need to explore all the things the genre has to supply.
