Consumer experts Which one? revealed the UK’s most cost-effective supermarket in March (excluding Aldi and Lidl) and it’d just surprise you. It costs £20 lower than the most costly supermarket, Waitrose, the most cost effective supermarket is Sainsbury’s.

41 groceries cost a mean of £72.54 a month at Aldi. This compares to a complete of £92.55 at Waitrose. The same products would cost £72.79. Comparing the following 96 items for a complete of 137, including the unique 41, including branded products akin to Andrex toilet paper and Cathedral City cheese, and never counting Aldi and Lidl, Asda was found to be the most cost effective at £343.91.
Sainsbury’s was the following most cost-effective, costing £9.25 more. Waitrose was £41.83 costlier than Asda.
