Like us, lots of you’ve gotten watched and enjoyed the favored survival TV series Alone. However, because the name suggests, Alone is about isolated players who overcome their surroundings and their very own inner demons – loneliness, self-doubt and fear. It’s an interesting premise, but unless you are unlucky enough to find yourself stranded on a deserted island, most real-world survival scenarios probably involve other people. Creating a cohesive group and working together to survive is difficult under ideal conditions, not to say doing it in some of the inhospitable places within the United States – the cold Alaskan wilderness. This complex challenge forms the idea of the brand new Netflix TV series Survivewhich divides the 16 contestants into teams to see who can claim the million dollar money prize.
Premise and rules Survive
Netflix says Survive is “a latest competition series where 16 lone wolves attempt to survive within the wilds of Alaska with just one rule: they need to be a part of a team to win.” All 16 contestants will apparently be stranded on Chicagof Island, a 2,000-square-mile landmass with over 740 miles of rugged coastline. Fun fact: Chicagof Island has largest bear population per square mile anywhere on Earth. The competition starts in the autumn, so freezing rain and snow are almost inevitable.
The 16 players are divided into 4 different teams, and every of them has to establish camp a brief distance from one another. From this point on, the contestants must work together to be the last team standing. However, players can change team at any timean element that’s more likely to end in the natural formation of shaky alliances and bitter rivalries – hence the comparison to Lord of the Flies. Thankfully, Netflix notes that it won’t Survivoroff-island voting – The only way for a contestant to go away the island is by give up or medical evacuation.
