Madonna Is Pissed That People Focused on Her Face on the Grammys

Madonna had the consideration of introducing Sam Smith and Kim Petras on the sixty fifth Grammy Awards ahead of their performance and shouted out all of the rebels and troublemakers within the music industry. All in all, the 2023 Grammys premiered on Sunday, February 5. Petras, who’s transgender, and Smith, who got here out as non-binary in 2019, made history by taking home the award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance in addition to fiery performance of the song “Unholy”. Unfortunately, the subject of conversation about social media AND elsewhere was on her appearance. Some have suggested that she modified her face with cosmetic surgery or other procedures. Not all criticism was negative, like some sympathized Madonna and identified the pressure of being within the highlight for so long as she has.

But Madonna didn’t take the criticism evenly. In fact, on February 7, the pop icon shared just a few select words in an Video on Instagram featuring several people including Smith, Petras, Cardi B and more. The video showed Madonna interacting with various celebrities, but it surely’s her long caption that comprises all of the meat.

She began by expressing how she initially desired to present the award for Album of the Year, but thought it could be more meaningful to present a performance by the duo Petras and Smith. She noted that individuals must have engaged more together with her speech somewhat than zooming in on her face, adding that almost all people would look disfigured if the photographer took similar photos of them, captioning her video: “Many people have chosen to speak only about loved ones- my photos taken with a protracted lens camera by a photojournalist that might disfigure someone’s face!!

She didn’t hesitate to directly state that the criticism of her appearance was the results of ageism and misogyny and that there really isn’t any win for ladies as they become old. “Once again I’m caught up within the glare of ageism and misogyny that pervades the world we live in. A world that refuses to rejoice women over 45 and feels the necessity to punish her if she continues to be strong-willed, tough – working and adventurous,” the caption reads.
