The top notes of Versace Crystal Noir are vibrant: a mixture of cardamom, pepper and ginger. You will almost definitely smell them as soon as you spray it. When it dries a bit, you are greeted by a floral chaser – the scent of gardenia, peony and orange blossom. After going out within the evening, you will find that the scent has mellowed right down to a fragile aroma of amber and sandalwood – taking the entire experience from spicy and sexy to pretty and soothing.
How I tested it
I wore Versace Crystal Noir to a couple of evening events – drinks with friends and a couple of Christmas parties. I believed the scent was best paired with a decent black petticoat, high heels, and deep burgundy lipstick (and I did as she asked). Compliments were plentiful, but even without turning my head, I felt confident wearing this fragrance.
With one spritz split between each wrists and one other on the décolleté, it lingered for several hours at its best peppery, eye-catching, then mellowed to a fragile and warm floral aroma.
After a couple of late-night trips around the town, I spotted a TikTok recommending putting it on a Tom Ford Soleil Blanc. I happened to have this in my collection so I gave it a try to was blown away by how transformative the mix was. He immediately took this sexy nighttime scent right into a summer day, adding a touch of vanilla and coconut to the wealthy floral notes of Crystal Noir.
My sincere thoughts
Versace Crystal Noir just isn’t an amphibian. She’s a movie star: elegant, wealthy, and albeit, a bit intimidating. She would never start something, but she would absolutely finish it, reapply her lipstick and be on her way (little doubt to the subsequent party stuffed with paparazzi). The embodiment of a powerful woman in high heels – Sophia Loren or Gina Lollabrigida.
Considering a serious confidence boost, Versace Crystal Noir is my recent evening fragrance. I like how sexy it feels without straying into musky mature territory (as is usually the case when talking about femme fatale fragrances). Somehow it balances between dark and delicate – probably because of the fragile floral notes that turn out to be more pronounced the longer you wear it.
I wish I could bottle the layered combination of Versace Crystal Noir and Tom Ford Soleil Blanc. It is more playful and suitable for on a regular basis wear, although buying each and layering day by day is unfortunately not a viable method to live.
Where to purchase it
Versace Crystal Noir is widely available at your favorite beauty stores – each Sephora and Ulta – in addition to several luxury malls corresponding to Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstrom.
